Deloitte's analysis of royalty and existing taxes in the oil and gas industry indicates that in the European countries, Hungarian producers have been paying the highest combined resource tax (22.9%). Production in Hungary has decreased by half in the past ten years (to almost 2 bcm).
At the same time, in the rest of European countries taxes do not exceed 19%, and are less than 10% on average. In Ukraine, royalty on most of the produced gas is 29%. Additionally, companies have to pay 50% of the planned income in taxes. For gas produced under PSA, the royalty is 70%.
