On September 9, 2016, an external meeting with the participation of the Prime-Minister of Ukraine, Volodymyr Groysman, was held. It was dedicated to 60-year anniversary of opening of the Shebelynka gas field, and the main topic was development of the gas production industry by 2020.

Ukrgasvydobuvannya, DTEK Oil & Gas, Burisma Group, Geo Alliance Group, Smart Energy, CUB-Gas, and Poltava Petroleum Company have initiated the founding of the Association. Combined, the companies produce 88% of the Ukrainian natural gas.
