On July 26, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution on the opening of geological information and approved the launch of a pilot project for the conduct of electronic auctions for subsoil use. Also, during the Government meeting, the Roadmap for conducting of international oil and gas auctions was approved.
- The first round of international auctions is scheduled to be held in January 2019;
- The investor will have the opportunity to obtain available geological information on the proposed fields on request;
- The organization and conduct of the auction will be held with the professional support of experienced consultants from foreign partner countries.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman noted:
"Our task is absolutely clear: to open geological data on the subsoil, to give the opportunity for business to come on the basis of transparent auctions and to extract gas, so that we will abandon import. As soon as we refuse from it, we will make prices lower and will not be under the influence of import prices, that's our strategic task. We make decisions respecting opening of data, introduction of auctions. We have already prepared 44 fields with a resource of 150 billion cubic meters of gas that require investment, technology, where Ukrainians will work, and we will be able to provide independence from any state".
