Contemporary methods of carbohydrates extraction will now become more available for the gas producing companies in Ukraine, after a tender for hydraulic fracturing has been successfully conducted by the PJSC UkrGasVydobuvannya.

The tender winners have bid a cost per one operation of approximately 4 million hryvnia, which is almost twice lower than the 7.5 million cost, incurred in the past years. The effect was achieved by the size of sales – UkrGasVydobuvannya is conducting tenders for a 100 HF operations in total. The extraction stimulation actions will be conducted this year and the following year.

This unveils the possibilities for the rest of the market participants – the modern fleet of hydraulic fracturing equipment, as well as the qualified and experienced staff will be in Ukraine permanently during this period. In future, the private companies will be able to contract the team for work on its own wells.

By holding an open tender for hydraulic fracturing in the Prozorro system, UkrGasVydobuvannya has opened the door for development of the whole Ukrainian gas production market. We need to compensate for the technology retardation in the industry. HF is the necessary element of extraction, it is a standard, which we are only implementing. It has now become cheaper for Ukraine. We should do everything possible and impossible to make such initiatives independent of the parliament or government crises.

Information: More than 20,000 HF operations are performed in the USA annually, in Russian Federation – approximately 13,000, in Serbia – 500. For the past 5 years, 15 such operations were performed in Ukraine. These operations allow to significantly increase extraction from old, exhausted deposits.
