The Association of Gas Producers of Ukraine, which unites the largest national gas producing companies of both private and state ownership in Ukraine, and the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine (the Chamber) have signed the memorandum of cooperation. Its goal: reform the gas industry, establish its competitiveness, and also ensure transparency and absence of discrimination of the natural gas market.

The parties have agreed to consider the mutually beneficial cooperation as a tool for implementing the following objectives:

• promote increase of carbohydrates production in Ukraine;

• promote deregulation and transparency in the gas sector;

• promote functioning of a competitive and transparent market of natural gas.

In the implementation of cooperation under this Memorandum, the Parties may, if necessary, create working groups to develop solutions, prepare position papers, recommendations.

The Chairman of the Board of the Association of Gas Producers of Ukraine, Daniil Maydanyk said: “With signing the Memorandum, the Association is launching an important collaboration with the Chamber regarding the publicity of all the initiatives of the gas producing industry players of Ukraine. Today we have joined those, who, together with the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, works effectively for the benefit of the economic reforms and improvement of the investing attractiveness of several industries, including the oil and gas industry. We have high expectations for collaboration, because today there is a huge need for more active joint solutions to the challenges facing the gas production industry”.

The President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, Andriy Hunder: “The Chamber is actively involved in the reform of the oil and gas industry in Ukraine. Implementation of the Law on the natural gas market, the hydrocarbons production tax and regulatory reforms – are the top priorities of the Chamber’s Committee on Energy work. We are confident that cooperation with the Association will bring positive results and will contribute to the main goal – development of gas production industry and establishment of the Ukraine’s energy independence”.
